Meet the Jaguar Team Teachers

Language Arts- Lacey Powell

Welcome to the Jaguar team! My name is Lacey Powell, and I will be your Language Arts teacher this year. I have been a proud member of the Jaguar team for the past three years now, and I can tell you from experience that you have a fun and challenging year ahead of you. I graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Language Arts Education, and I am currently finishing up my Masters degree at Stetson University, where I will graduate with a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership this December.

When I am not at school, I love shopping and spending time with family. I also love playing with my adorable dog, Tommy Girl, and you will certainly hear a lot about this precious little peak-a-poo! Again, welcome to the Jaguar team! I look forward to sharing my love of literature and language with each and every one of you.

Mathematics- Celeste Hunter

Hello!  My name is Celeste Hunter and I am the math teacher on the Jaguar team.  This will be my second year at Chain of Lakes Middle School.  I graduated from the University of North Florida with a degree in Middle School Math and Science education.

My favorite hobbies are backpacking, kayaking, SCUBA diving, playing with my pets, and of course MATH! I can’t wait to get the New Year started so that I can share my love of math with you!

Science- Teri O’Connor

I am so excited to be at Chain of Lakes this year.  I love Science!  I taught second grade for three years and can't wait for the challenge of middle school.  I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida.  I am certified by the Florida Department of Education to teach all subjects K-9 and music K-12.  I proudly consider myself a "Science nerd" and look forward to sharing my knowledge and love of all things scientific.

I have been skydiving, hang gliding and last year I became NAUI certified in scuba diving.  When I'm not at school, I enjoy reading, movies and playing with my cat Abby and my bearded dragon Bodhi.

US History- Janice Roberts

I’m thrilled to be a member of the Jaguar Team here at Chain of Lakes Middle School. I teach U.S. History and previously taught at Southwest Middle School. This past summer our family vacation included visiting Andersonville, Georgia where there was a Civil War Prison, Atlanta, Georgia and their new aquarium, beautiful Amicalola Falls, Georgia Tech and of course an Atlanta Braves baseball game. I’m anxious to share these experiences with your children.

I have been a teacher for 23 years and prior to moving to Orlando I taught Orchestra in Louisville, Ky. at the Youth Performing Arts School. I also taught Orchestra here in Orange County and continue to perform professionally as a violinist. I love to perform and have covered the spectra of genres performing with the Moody Blues, Louisville Orchestra, Walt Disney World Orchestra, Harry Conick Jr., and recently on an ABC Christmas special with Jessica Simpson to name just a few.

I’m a resident here in the community and have four wonderful guys in my life. My husband John is an entertainment manger for MGM Studios with Walt Disney World. My oldest son David is 17, a Sr. at Cypress Creek High School in the I.B. program, and a member of the baseball team. My youngest son Nicholas is 11, in the 6th grade here at Chain of Lakes. He is also a baseball player. The fourth guy is a perky English cocker spaniel named Camden.

I’m looking forward to a wonderful year with your children and if I can help in any way throughout the year, please don’t hesitate to let me know.
