Welcome to the SAFE program at Chain of Lakes Middle School.

In 1987, the Student Assistance and Family Empowerment program began to help at- risk students and families.  The SAFE coordinator can provide valuable resources that can aid in the success of a family.  For additional information about the programs and services offered by SAFE, please contact:

About the SAFE program:                                        

• Provides support for students and families
• Provides programs that build resiliency skills in students and reduce high-risk behavior
• Develops and delivers Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) curriculum to ensure a drug-free environment
• Assists with student and family crises
• Offers programs and resources for parent education
• Establishes partnerships with hospitals, treatment centers, counseling agencies, and other community support services

Direct Services Available:

• SAFE Team interventions- School-based SAFE team tries to find the best ways to assist students and families with their challenges
• Support Groups- Small clusters of young people coming together to offer support for similar problems and learn positive coping techniques
• Peer Mediation-Trained COL students help their peers resolve conflicts and find positive solutions
• ASSETS Club- Students spread the word on the 40 Developmental Assets needed to succeed
• Red Ribbon Week- (Last week of October) An annually celebrated national campaign promoting drug-free living
• Partners in Change- An annual conference attended by students to learn how to spread peace throughout the school
